Evolutionist,
What I genuinely enjoy the most about the Bitcoin space is seeing all its innovation. One area of technology we can all agree needs fixing is emails. Our inboxes have become worse than our physical mailboxes, with endless spam messages filling them up almost endlessly. With virtually no cost associated with sending emails, will this bombardment of spam have no end?
Strike, a Bitcoin company, has set out to tackle this problem by launching Reacher, an email service platform. Reacher works as a paywall, requiring the sender to pay a small fee in Bitcoin before the email reaches its desired recipient.
If this idea catches on, emails could become a more formal means of communication, with senders spending real time and resources to compose messages and recipients maximizing their time by only sifting through real valuable emails. This idea has the chance to limit or eliminate all spam emails instantly.
I don’t know how I feel about paying for emails, but it is an exciting idea. Regardless, this is precisely why Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin. As stated in the white paper, Satoshi wanted to improve “commerce on the internet” by removing the “financial institutions” and their fees acting as a middleman. Perhaps sending “satoshis” (fractions of a Bitcoin) for an email improves commerce on the internet. Only time will tell.
What other ideas will come from this space? Imagine small payments for songs, videos, files, etc., instead of being blitzed with pop-ups and advertisements, your data being sold to the highest bidder, or being tricked into clicking a link with malware. Would the internet be a completely different business model and experience if Bitcoin had come along earlier?
What other ideas using micropayments can you come up with? What else would you like built on Bitcoin? Comment below to share your thoughts and ideas.

This is nice, but I think it needs to go one more step. Where the recipient can create a "friend/approved list.

I think that if the U.N. and the G-20 really want to lower remitting costs, want to improve financial inclusion, want to build stability in financial markets, my pitch to them is, you should take a look at bitcoin, and stop trying to mandate [lower prices] for Western Union.
